Avijit Sarkar's World
ART - Avijit's Lifelong Passion
Avijit's art work is extensive and arguably covers every style and form. His wide repertoire comprises of traditional media (oil, acrylics, watercolor, ink), cartoons, illustrations and digital art.

Avijit has had no formal training in art. He has however said in many interviews that his mother used to proudly say that he started drawing before he could even talk properly. The only art exams that he has ever passed were the Indian government's elementary and intermediate exams, while at school. He was one of the youngest persons on record, to have passed the elementary exam. He truly believes that he is essentially a painter at heart.

His advent into cartooning came in 1984. While working as the head of the IT division at Time of India, his illustrations were spotted by one of the editors. Soon his cartoons and illustrations were published in this prestigious newspaper. Inspired by the legendary cartoonist Mario Miranda, he has produced a huge number of social cartoons and his illustrations that have been included in many international publications and magazines.
